Being alive and living are not always the same.

Trudy Love is used to being on her own and has rarely been shown affection. Between growing up in foster care and her abusive boyfriend she has no idea what life can be. At 19 she goes through something no one should ever experience and is left alone once again. Six months later she moves to Mobile, Alabama where she meets someone whose eyes bring back memories of the one person she misses everyday. Too late she finds herself caught in a storm of emotions that are unwanted, but she's determined to fight them off.

Jaxon Coleman has a good life, and for him to attend one of the finest Med schools in the country and follow in his dad's foot steps is a dream come true. However, dreams can change in life and when he meets Trudy he knows his will never be the same. Jax knows she has secrets she is unwilling to share, but he's never given up on something he wants and he wants Tru.

Can Trudy stop resisting her feelings and welcome the chance to live a different life than she pictured or will her defiance and haunted past eventually take her out of Jax's reach?

After tragedy living is not easy, but with the right person it can be learned.

I finally pull my gaze away and remember that I never thanked him for what he did.
Geez, he must think I am a real bitch. “Um...” I hesitate. “About what you did today...I
never said thank you.” I pause and glance back up in his dark coffee colored eyes.

Thank you,” I say in a whisper.

“You’re welcome,” he whispers back, and I feel like I’m drowning in the deep brown
pools.

All the noise and chaos around me is forgotten as we have another moment like the one from earlier. I feel the flutter in my stomach return and my breathing begins to alter. What is going on?

“Here you go, Tru.” A red cup is pushed into my hands, and I grab hold right before it
spills and I make a complete fool out of myself. After taking a small sip, I remember why I don’t drink beer. My face twists into a grimace, and Jaxon gives me a cocky grin. There’s no reason to complain because I like his smile. Relief washes over me since I don’t need to feel guilty for liking it either.

My name is Robin and I live in Alabama. I grew up an army brat and traveled a lot until we finally settled down along the Gulf Coast when I was 4. My husband is 9 years younger so I guess that makes me a COUGAR. I have a little girl who is 9 and is blind as well as autistic.

My life is not boring with them two in it. Believe me. I have always loved creating and I would constantly draw on my walls. I love painting and reading. Writing is something I wanted to do but didn't think I could, until I woke up at three a.m. a few months back and started writing. Life has a way of throwing rocks at you and putting cracks in your soul. Either you can duck and cover or you can make something beautiful from the cracks.

After that, the story took over. Even though some pieces of my life experience are
within it, it is Tru and Jax’s story now. I have truly fell in love with this story and hope
you all do too.

But she makes him feel things he’d forgotten even existed. She makes him laugh, smile, care… forget. Without her trying, and without him realizing, Emily has wound her way into the one place he swore to keep locked away forever – his heart. But can she stay there when she discovers the dark past he’s so determined to keep hidden from her? Or will he destroy her too, just like he always expected? (Not recommended for younger readers due to language, drug/ alcohol abuse and sexual content) Meet the Author nicola hakenNicola lives in Rochdale, England with her husband and four children (and dog!). She is the author of two stand alone novels, Inevitable and Saving Amy, and is currently having fun working on her first series with book one, Take My Hand, to be released in October. When not reading or writing Nicola can usually be found carrying out her daily slave duties – cleaning, feeding the mob, cleaning a bit more etc… or watching The Twilight Saga for the fifty-billionth time :-) Excerpt Back on the sand I talked Emily into paddling along the water’s edge. She whined a little, complaining about the cold, but when I threatened to chuck her whole body into the frothy sea she soon quit moaning and followed me towards the shore. I stood still for a few long seconds when we reached it – gazing out in awe towards the endless stretch of unsettled water. For a moment I was back home. I was alone, admiring the effervescent waves crash against the rocks, taking forgotten debris and lost branches with them as they ventured back out into the impossibly vast ocean, and wishing they could take me with them. “Crap that’s cold!” Emily blared as a small wave lapped over her bare foot, snapping me back to consciousness. “Quit being a pussy,” I replied, kicking up a mighty-big spray of water her way. She jumped away from me quicker than if I’d just pulled a knife on her. “Oh my God, Dexter!” she squealed! “Stop it!” she continued when I splashed her again. “I mean it now. Stop,” she added after the third time, growing a little more serious each time. But I was having too much fun. Her angry face was too cute. Sensing her irritation growing by the second and enjoying it more than I should (I’m mentally stunted remember?) I scooped her up in one swift movement and tossed her over my shoulder, running deeper into the ice-cold water. “Dexter, please. Put me down!” “You got it, doll,” I said, laughing lightly and plopping her down into the waist-high water. “No! Please!” Any trace of humor immediately evaporated from my body. “PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE,” she begged, her eyes on fire with panic. She was all-out scared. Fuck that she was petrified. I lunged forward instantly, taking her in my arms like a baby and ran as fast as the soft sand beneath my feet would allow, towards the dry land. “Jesus, Em, I’m so sorry,” I rushed out. She was shaking in my arms. It was more than just the cold – it was pure unadulterated fear. “Shh, doll. You’re out now. I’ve got you,” I reassured. She buried her head in my chest and her body vibrated against me as the tears started to flow. What the fuck had I done? “I’m sorry, doll. I’m so fucking sorry.” Slowly but surely her body began to relax against me. Then she looked up at me just long enough to say, “Take me home.” So I did. And all the day’s fun and giggles became nothing but a grieved memory. Social Links

Excerpt</ h5> Once we reach the bottom of the stairs, I gain my confidence and take his hand leading him to the dance floor. “Let’s dance!” I don’t give him time to respond, nor do I stop to look at his face to see his expression. Instantly, Maggie spots me and her eyes light up like a deer in headlights. I smile and threw my head back as I grab onto Reed. I start swaying my hips and moving provocatively to Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado. </ i>The look on his face is priceless. “You don’t fool me, little girl,” he whispers in my ear as he moves my hair to the side. Goosebumps travel all the way down my neck and down my spine. Then he moves his hands to my waist and turns me with my back to his front. This reminds me of last night in my dorm room. Maggie moves closer and mouths to me “bad girl”. I throw my head back into the crook of his neck and giggle. Kelly and Derek are still dancing nearby. I can’t read the look Derek is giving me, but then I see him gaze at Kelly with amusement. I think he may be surprised to see me with Reed again. In this moment I feel at ease and carefree. I turn back around and quickly become aware that Reed is in a sandwich. Luckily it is just Quinn dancing behind him and when I look at her she winks at me. Soon after she is pulled by her hips to Matt’s grinding moves. The music turns to a slower Cold Play song and Reed pulls me closer to him. He starts to sway us softly. I dare myself to look up and when I do his eyes look heated and deeper, almost sapphire. Nervously, I bite down on my bottom corner of my lip. Reed runs his hands up to my cheeks and kisses me teasingly slow while lightly sucking on my bottom lip. It feels so good to be like this with him and I am wishing we were back upstairs in the bathroom or back in his room. Moving his head into the crook of my neck he plants sweet kisses just under my ear. As I feel myself getting lost in this moment, I am suddenly broken from it when someone grabs at my shoulder pulling me out of Reed’s arms and turns me around. With alcohol swimming in me I lose my balance, but I immediately notice the mixed green and hazel eyes that I had once found so loving. Reed shifts behind me and moves his hands protectively around my waist. The anxiety I had been feeling earlier quickly consumes me. I stare in disbelief and fear.   heartdividerPost

I washed up and had just enough time to tug on a clean tank and thong and then climbed back into bed. I heard his footsteps. Excitement and relief washed through me. A small part of me feared he might have changed his mind, but my insecurity vanished the second his chiseled face appeared from the darkness.

His shirt hung open. He folded his arms across his chest and casually leaned against the wall, studying me like the MRI images he methodically memorized before each surgery.

“You moved?” His lips parted into a half grin, and he shook his head disapprovingly.

“You took too long.”

“You put clothes on.”

“You might need some new clothes.” I smiled.

“You’re fucking beautiful.”

Speechless.

Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us!We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since.

We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.

It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.  So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a

glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.

Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?  Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.

In Love by Design welcomes you back to Northfield, Minnesota and the life of Anabel Axelrod.

Its official--the sexy, blonde bookstore owner with a sassy attitude, a brain that never stops, and a reluctant penchant for helping her family and friends out of trouble has fallen madly in love.

Anabel doesn't get to prove what a fabulous girlfriend she'll make for more than eight hours before Luke disappears out of town. Instead of getting to enjoy being a girl passionately in love, Anabel’s shiny new feelings and trust in her boyfriend are immediately being tested.

Who is the darkly powerful and charismatic Luke Drake? What are his secrets? Does he really love Anabel, or has he been manipulating her to further an intricate plan of cold revenge in the making for over twenty years?

This third book in the series finds the confident Anabel desperately needing her sense of humor and all her understanding of human nature to deal with life. But Anabel soon learns the hard way she has even bigger issues to worry about than family problems and an incredibly hot, but very tricky boyfriend.

She’s made some bad enemies recently and someone wants her dead. After the first attempt on her life, Anabel and Luke team up to solve this mystery, but Anabel is beginning to wonder if she can trust her Dark Prince. Or Is this one fairy tale where love does not conquer all?

Meet Tracy Ellen…

For all of my life, I’ve always had a thing for shoes that make me say “Oh, yum!” and for reading romance novels written about hot, dangerously smart men and sassy, intelligent women. It’s not an exaggeration to say I’ve avidly read everything I could get my greedy little hands on to find these jewels.

One day this past year or so, I realized that I spend more money on books now than I do on shoes--and I was stunned. Should I be ashamed of this fact or proud? Then an even stranger thing happened. It was like a switch turned off/on inside me. All of a sudden instead of wanting to read about diabolically sexy men, I wanted to write my own story of the building hot romance between a lippy, confident woman and a gorgeously mysterious man.

So began my budding writing career. Then I made another happy discovery—I absolutely love writing and still have a thing for shoes! Since then, my self-published books include A Date with Fate and Courted by
Karma in The Adventures of Anabel Axelrod series. The third book in the series, In Love by Design will be released in September 2013.

For those of you who may want to know some pertinent facts: I was born in Indiana to middle-class

parents, the third out of five hellions. My mother wanted to go to work every day. I’ve always lived in the Midwest, except for six steamy months in Florida when I was nineteen. Currently, I reside in the suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota with my family. The college town of Northfield featured in Anabel’s Adventures is just down the road a jaunt.

I love, love, love connecting with readers. Comments, posts, reviews, and emails are always welcome. Follow my blog or like me on Facebook to be aware of events and giveaways, or new books I’m publishing. Thanks again for reading my books and supporting this indie author!
